The Acropolis Museum

the road around the Acropolis to the Museum

under my feet - mosaic floor! (the black dots are on the glass)

ancient foundations - people have been throwing coins into the hole (left) from above

Then, in the lobby there were pretty cool models of the Acropolis at different time periods - they allowed photographs for these displays:

the  Odeon of Herodes Atticus, at the base of the Acropolis

how would you like to climb that ramp? Yikes!

this one was to show how the city had grown around the Acropolis

churches, anyone?

Aristotle - this bust is the best one that has been found,
and it was found in the excavation under the museum!

More shots of the ancient Athens excavation:

the round foundation was for a Byzantine church

I am fascinated with this type of mosaic flooring - I have seen a couple of examples of it, now

foundations date from 2nd to 5th century BCE
