haha! we are not too good at these selffies, but here we are on the tour bus |
Our outing outside of Athens is an exploration of some of the fabulous archaeological sites in the Peloponnese peninsula, or rather the bulk of the land mass of Greece. We all loaded up for four nights away from the CYA campus onto beautiful, comfortable tour buses and headed for the the Corinth-Isthmos. Along the way, we stopped at rest stops, which featured an interesting assortment of touristy-type offerings, as well as small snack bars and clean restrooms.
Our first two nights consisted of staying in Nafplio, or Nauplio, or Nafplion, whichever language you choose to say it in. It is a beautiful little coastal, tourist town. From there we moved onto Sparta, and lastly to Olympia. Many sites were walked, hills climbed, and bitter wind endured. But, all in all, it was a power-packed excursion with far more than any of us could possibly absorb. More on each site in upcoming posts.
As far as hotels were concerned, the hotel at Sparta was clearly the winner in the bed category, the hotel at Nafplio the best breakfast, and the accommodations at Olympia the best for wi-fi (we actually could use it!). CYA did a fabulous job at making sure we were comfortable and I am very grateful that Chuck was able to come along with us!
